Starting from July 1, Xiamen, Fujian will all popularize smart water meters, and all new buildings need to install direct-reading smart water meters.
It is understood that last year, the Water Affairs Group installed smart water meters on a pilot basis in 58 users of Nanyue Villa, and the feedback from users was good. The biggest difference from traditional water meters is that the water consumption of smart water meters can be viewed online in real time, and the system will automatically alarm when water consumption is abnormal, so that users can avoid unnecessary losses.
Approved by the Xiamen Municipal Government, from July 1 this year, all new construction projects (including secondary water supply projects) newly declared for water use in Xiamen must install direct-reading smart water meters, and the construction cost will be paid by the water affairs group to the development and construction unit Collected and included in the cost of residential construction. Buildings and communities that have been built for secondary water supply will be gradually reconstructed on a voluntary basis. In principle, the community owners’ committee should take the lead in submitting applications.
In the next step, relevant departments will also issue implementation rules to make clearer regulations on the implementation methods for the promotion of smart water meters and cost sharing methods.
