Prospects for the Future Development Drend of Smart Sensors
From: 2018-05-09

Smart sensor is a sensor with information processing function, with a microprocessor, with the ability to collect, process, and exchange information. It is the product of the combination of sensor integration and microprocessor. It has become a hotspot and frontier of sensor research in the world. The integration of digitization, informatization, and Internet of Things technologies will drive the development of sensors in the direction of intelligence.

In people's consciousness, sensors are widely used in the fields of automobiles, industrial automation, aerospace technology, military engineering, environmental detection, etc., and they are rarely involved in the electric field. Smart sensor is a sensor with information processing function, with a microprocessor, with the ability to collect, process, and exchange information. It is the product of the combination of sensor integration and microprocessor.

In February, a working group for the preparation of three national standards including the Internet of Things and smart sensors held a kick-off meeting in Shanghai, which marked the start of the preparation of the series of national standards for the Internet of Things. At the meeting, 25 experts from Tsinghua University, Beijing Institute of Automation Technology, Jiangsu Internet of Things Research and Development Center, Zhejiang Institute of Metrology, China Institute of Metrology, and representatives of industrial process calibrator manufacturers jointly discussed the technical issues of standard formulation Exchanged opinions.

The three national standards to be prepared are "Internet of Things General Technology Intelligent Sensor Interface Specification", "Internet of Things General Technology Intelligent Sensor Characteristics and Classification" and "General Technical Requirements for Intelligent Recording Instruments." The promulgation of these three national standards will end the long-standing situation of no national technical specifications to follow in the field of smart sensors and smart instruments in the Internet of Things, and will be active in promoting the development of domestic smart sensors and smart recording instruments and promoting the standardization and standardization of related industries. Meaning.

Sensor technology, communication technology and computer technology constitute the three foundations of modern information. They respectively complete the extraction, transmission and processing of measured information, which is an important symbol of the development of contemporary science and technology. With the development of science and technology, digitization, intelligence and networking have become the development trend of the times: the combination of computer technology and communication technology has produced computer network technology; the combination of computer technology and sensor technology has produced intelligent sensor technology; the three are integrated One (combination of computer network technology and intelligent sensing technology) has produced networked intelligent sensing technology. Networked intelligent sensor technology has become a hot spot of people's attention.

The networked intelligent sensor is based on the embedded microprocessor and integrates the sensing unit, signal processing unit and network interface unit, so that the sensor has the functions of self-check, self-calibration, self-diagnosis and network communication, so as to realize the collection and processing of information A new smart sensor that is truly unified and coordinated with transmission.

Compared with other types of sensors, networked smart sensors have the following characteristics:

With intelligent sensing function. With the introduction of embedded technology, integrated circuit technology and microcontrollers, the sensor has become a combination of hardware and software. On the one hand, the power consumption of the sensor is reduced, the volume is reduced, and the anti-interference and reliability are improved. It has self-identification and self-correction functions, and uses software technology to realize sensor's nonlinear compensation, zero drift and temperature compensation;

With network communication function. The application of network interface technology enables sensors to be easily connected to the industrial control network, which provides great convenience for system expansion and maintenance.

At this stage, not only sensors can be found in the field of smart grids, but smart grids are also expected to become the largest user of sensors. Smart sensor is a sensor with information processing function, with a microprocessor, with the ability to collect, process, and exchange information. It is the product of the combination of sensor integration and microprocessor. The smart grid, like many smart systems, is not a single individual, but a product of many equipment and technologies. The sensor equipment in the front line of monitoring is small, but absolutely important.

In the development of smart grids, it is no longer possible to use traditional sensors to quickly and directly measure the quality and fault location of certain power products and monitor them online. The use of smart sensors can directly measure product quality indicators and faults (such as temperature, pressure, flow). For example, in order to meet the development needs of smart grids, my country has launched a fiber-optic current sensing system, which realizes the fully digital closed-loop control of the pipeline current sensing system. It has the characteristics of good stability, linearity, and high sensitivity, and meets the needs of a large range of high Accuracy measurement requirements.

In short, with the reduction of sensor manufacturing costs, the market has more and more comprehensive and professional requirements for sensor functions, and sensor intelligence will also be popularized and applied.
